IC-IMPACTS Welcomes Dr. Arvind Gupta as the next President of UBC

IC-IMPACTS is excited to welcome the next President of the University of British Columbia (UBC), Dr. Arvind Gupta.  We look very forward to working closely with Dr. Gupta in his new role. Dr. Gupta’s expertise and leadership in international, multi-sector research and training collaborations, and innovation will prove extremely valuable to IC-IMPACTS.

We would like to thank Professor Stephen Toope for his exceptional support in advancing IC-IMPACTS and helping develop new pathways for multi-sector engagement between Canada and India. His guidance and vision in collaboration with President Indira Samarasekera of the University of Alberta and Past President David Naylor of the University of Toronto, was significant in the creation of IC-IMPACTS as a pan-Canadian Centre of Excellence.

Dr. Arvind Gupta will become the 13th president and vice chancellor of UBC on July 1, 2014 for a five-year term, succeeding Professor Stephen Toope after his eight years of service. “UBC has found a leader with rare attributes: critical thinking, inspiring vision and the courage to chart a bold course,” said Professor Stephen Toope.
