IC-IMPACTS Successfully Hosts 4 Workshops in India

IC-IMPACTS hosted 4 workshops in India during the month of December to share knowledge and advances across all three of its research themes, and to create a path forward for increased collaboration between Canada and India.

Two workshops on Public Health were held in Bangalore and Mumbai respectively.  The workshops brought together academic, industrial and government members to highlight key challenges and opportunities in the mobile health space.  The group discussed innovative approaches for better primary health care, m-Health, electronic medial records and more.  Both workshops highlighted the need for low cost diagnostics and their application in primary health care, the application of point of care technologies in maternal and infant health and the need for developing enhanced training programs.

The water-themed workshop brought experts from across Canada and India to share knowledge in water monitoring and water treatment technology advances. Chaired by Professor T. Pradeep from IIT Madras, the workshop allowed for meaningful discussions about current water-related challenges in India and Canada, and helped outline steps forward in creating solutions to these critical issues.

Finally, IC-IMPACTS Safe and Sustainable Infrastructure workshop focused on sustainable and efficient buildings in smart cities.  Since infrastructure and cleantech are significant priorities for both Canada and India, the workshop showcased the need for smart buildings and green cities with discussions in using low carbon materials, new condition assessment methods, and advanced building efficiency.
