New Canada-India Partnership Supports Student Mobility in the Water Management, Infrastructure, and Public Health Sectors

New agreement strengthens connections and promotes research exchange opportunities for graduate students and postdocs

Vancouver, BC — Today, Mitacs and IC-IMPACTS (the India-Canada Centre for Innovative Multidisciplinary Partnerships to Accelerate Community Transformation and Sustainability) have signed a three-year agreement to support research collaborations in sectors of mutual interest, including integrated water management, safe and sustainable infrastructure, and public health. Distinguished speakers and guests from both India and Canada participated in the signing ceremony.

The goal of the three-year agreement is to encourage engagement and deepen relationships between Canadian and Indian research networks. Through mutual collaborations, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows working on IC-IMPACTS projects in either country will have the opportunity to benefit from the Globalink Research Award program, which provides a stipend for 12- to 24-week research exchanges in the other country.

Higher education and research partnerships are a critical part of the Canada-India bilateral relationship. The partnership supports Mitacs and IC-IMPACTS’ shared goal of promoting international mobility and the application of scientific knowledge in key fields.
