IC-IMPACTS & Engage North Launch 2015 Community Engagement Fellowships Program

IC-IMPACTS is proud to announce that it has partnered with Engage North again to launch the Community Engagement Fellowship Program for 2015.  The Community Engagement Fellowship Program is a great showcase of trust and partnerships between students, communities, and organizations all working together.  IC-IMPACTS previously partnered with Engage North in 2014 and successfully created 7 different fellowship projects in three different communities.

The program places students on four-month long projects that respond to challenges previously identified by community members.  Working together with remote First Nations and Inuit communities in northern Canada, Engage North and IC-IMPACTS provide real-world experiences for undergraduate and graduate students to identify and implement long-term, community-based solutions in conjunction with host communities.

The outcomes of these relationships are multifaceted: host communities share their deep cultural knowledge and traditions and in exchange the Fellows share their technical skills and knowledge to address community-identified applied projects.

Projects identified in the 2015 Community Engagement Fellowship Program are diverse, tackling challenges from community communications, and technical software, to community health and water system planning.

Fellowship programs for both undergraduate and graduate students are currently available for Summer 2015. Applications to the program are due Friday March 6, 2015.
