Dr. Sushanta Mitra, Associate Scientific Director and Theme Lead for Integrated Water Management, has had his research on E. coli detection profiled in Analytical Methods, a prestigious journal from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
His research was featured on both the front and back covers, and labeled as a “Hot Article.” The August issue showcases the breakthrough in water quality monitoring by Dr. Mitra and his team at the University of Alberta. Dr. Mitra and his team have developed a novel device that monitor’s E. coli levels in potable water using personal glucose meters. These devices detect water-borne pathogens at the point-of-use, allowing individuals and limited resource communities to monitor the quality of their own water sources.
