Prof. Gautam Sen is Chairman of the Indian Chapter of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is President and Founder Secretary General of Association for Trauma Care of India. He heads a Medical Foundation, Health Care International, whose primary thrust area is to establish continuing professional development courses in India, so that our doctors, nurses and health care administrators become safer, up to date in knowledge and responsible health care providers – to face the challenges of 21st Century needs.
Associated with many professional bodies in Surgery and allied subjects, Professor Sen received awards from prestigious bodies like the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Department of Health and Human Services, USA. He was the second recipient of the prestigious College Overseas Gold Medal in the year 2000, during millennium celebrations of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for his work overseas on Surgical Education and training. He received the Medal from Department of Health and Human Services, USA, in 1996 for his pioneering work in Accident and Emergency Services in the State of Maharashtra, of which presently he is Advisor for Accidence and Emergency Services. He was awarded Hon Fellowship of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in August 2007.
