IC-IMPACTS Board Member Receives the Padma Shri Award

Thursday, January 26, 2023 – The Government of India announces the recipients of Padma Awards on the eve of India’s Republic Day and IC-IMPACTS’ Board Member, Professor Sujatha Ramdorai, is named as the recipient of the prestigious Padmi Shri award.

The Padma Awards are one of the highest civilian honours in India, conferred by President of India in Spring each year. Prof. Ramdorai is recognized for her stellar contributions in the field of science and engineering. Prof. Ramdorai is amongst 106 recipients of the prestigious award.

Prof. Ramdorai is an algebraic number theorist known for her work on the Iwasawa theory. She was the first Indian to win the prestigious International Centre for Theoretical Physics Ramanujan Prize in 2006 and a winner of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award in 2004. She was named as the recipient of the 2020 Krieger-Nelson Prize for her exceptional contributions to mathematics research.
