Dr. Pratap Kumar Pati is a Professor and former Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He is presently the Head, Department of Agriculture, Coordinator of “Golden Jubilee Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GJCEI)”, Coordinator of Centre for Agriculture Research and Innovation (CARI) and Chairman of Foreign students’ Advisory Committee of   Guru Nanak Dev University. He holds an invited research position at AIST, Japan from 2019 onwards.

Dr. Pati received his M.Tech. in Applied Botany from IIT Kharagpur and Ph.D. from CSIR-IHBT, Palampur, India. He pursued his post-doctoral research at CIRAD, Montpellier, France and at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, USA. He has 21 Years of teaching and research experience. Dr. Pati works in the field of agri-biotechnology and has more than 95 international publications, two patents and one technology commercialized. He has several research grants from various funding agencies like DBT, DST, CSIR, UGC and DRDO. He is also the recipient of “INSA Teachers Award” from the Indian National Academy of Sciences, India, BOYSCAST Fellowship of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Fulbright-Nehru Senior Research Fellowship, Generation Challenge Award and Commonwealth Travel Grant. Dr. Pati is also a NAAC assessor and member of several national committees including reviewer of Fulbright doctoral and Post-Doctoral fellowship programme and a member task force for Star College Scheme of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
