A joint one-day workshop was successfully organised by SPARC–CDRI–IC-IMPACTS at IIT
Delhi on December 10, focusing on “Designing the Next Generation of Fire and Hazard
Resistant Infrastructure Materials, Modelling and Emerging Trends.”
The workshop brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners to deliberate on
innovative materials and advanced modelling approaches aimed at enhancing the resilience of
infrastructure against extreme events such as fire, impact, and blast loads.
A highlight of the workshop was a highly insightful lecture by Dr. Banthia on “Mechanistic
Evaluation of Impact and Blast-Induced Damage Mitigation in Conventional and Fibre-
Reinforced Concrete Systems.” His talk provided deep technical insights into damage
mechanisms and mitigation strategies, offering valuable perspectives for both academic
research and practical applications.
The session was extremely well received and proved to be a great learning experience for the
participants, fostering meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange on emerging trends in
resilient infrastructure design.
