Food security and the problem of fit: examining local innovations to milk wastage in India

In India’s dairy-rich villages, a significant amount of milk never reaches the market due to spoilage and logistical challenges. University of Waterloo’s Dr. Jeremy Pittman is working closely with local cooperatives to identify and strengthen homegrown solutions that address this problem. His project examines how community-led innovations can preserve milk, reduce waste, and improve incomes for small-scale dairy farmers. The research aims to enhance both economic stability and food availability.
