On June 20, 2018, IC-IMPACTS-UBC students (right) and other guests met with the leader of the BC Liberal Party Mr. Andrew Wilkinson (middle) and IC-IMPACTS Board Chair Mr. Barj Dhahan (left) to discuss the role of youth and opportunities for scientific researchers in the context of BC’s future.
IC-IMPACTS was established through the Canadian Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) as a Canada-India Research Centre of Excellence dedicated to the development of research collaborations between Canada and India. As a pan-Canadian centre built on the vision of UBC, the University of Alberta, and the University of Toronto, IC-IMPACTS engages researchers, industry innovators, community leaders, government agencies, and community organizations from across India and Canada to work closely to find solutions to key challenges affecting Indian and Canadian communities.
After five years of leading successful community-based research projects and technology deployments in Canada and India, IC-IMPACTS has achieved matching funding and equal participation by both countries. Among the centre’s upcoming projects are those with a focus on First Nations communities and expanding partnerships with Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCEs) to scale up economic development opportunities through IC-IMPACTS in its role as a gateway to India.
