Mr. Nishil Mohammed
Social Media and Communications Coordinator
Department of Chemical Engineering
University of Waterloo
Nishil is currently pursuing his doctoral studies in chemical engineering at University of Waterloo, Canada. He received his Bachelor of Technology in Biotechnology from Anna University, India in 2010 and Master of Technology in Nanotechnology from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, India in 2012. He moved to Canada in 2012 just after completing his master’s degree for pursuing his doctoral studies at University of Waterloo.
Nishil’s doctoral thesis work is aimed at developing cellulose nanocrystals incorporated nanocomposites for use in water treatment applications. This research work has already resulted in 2 patents and several journal publications. His research interests include development of functional nanomaterials and composites which can be utilized for the adsorption and controlled release of compounds.
Nishil has won several awards and scholarships during his undergraduate and graduate studies. He is also actively involved in several volunteering roles related to outreach of science and engineering education. During free time, he loves listening to music, travelling and Instagramming.
