The 2017 IC-IMPACTS Research Conference will bring together leaders, entrepreneurs, and thinkers who are helping drive innovation across Canada, India, and the world. The conference will spotlight new technologies and approaches aiding in the growing demand for smart and clean economies.
The two-day event will feature moderated panels and discussions on the shared goals of Canada and India’s Innovation agendas, how urban, rural, and First Nation communities can be better connected, investing in tomorrow’s students and companies, and more.
The event will also feature highlights from IC-IMPACTS 38 projects across Canada and India and how intersections from the Centre’s three core themes: Safe and Sustainable Infrastructure, Integrated Water Management, and Public Health.

This year’s conference will feature speakers from leading companies that are investing in tomorrow’s impacts, community representatives that are driving the growth of smart and clean communities, researchers and students that are developing innovative solutions and more!
Last year’s conference featured keynote speakers from the Government of India and the Government of Canada; prominent leaders from innovation clusters such as the Canadian Water Network, Mitacs, and Accel-Rx; exceptional speakers from community organizations such as the Assembly of First Nations and Waterlution; and leading academics from Carleton University, University of Alberta, McGill University, University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia.
The 2017 IC-IMPACTS Research Conference is a great opportunity for students and HQP to network with likeminded innovation leaders. Students will have an opportunity to hear from HQP that are successfully working with industry and will also get a chance to network with researchers and other students from across Canada.
This year’s Research Conference will also mark the 4th Annual IC-IMPACTS Student Poster Competition. Students from IC-IMPACTS 38 projects can submit a research poster and may have the opportunity to display their poster and even present at the conference. The 2017 IC-IMPACTS Research Conference will be held at Ponderosa Ballroom at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. The Ponderosa Ballroom is a new facility at UBC and is located at 6445 University Boulevard. Large parking lots are located north and south of Ponderosa Ballroom and accommodation is available in nearby campus facilities, as well as above the venue itself.
